The best, most innovative TVs from CES 2024

CES has introduced us to some great tech every year, but there are a few categories that just justify the in-person experience of a tech expo like no other. One of them is Smart TVs, and when it comes to the good old idiot box, CES 2024 has not disappointed us so far. With the event just beginning to kick off at Las Vegas, we have already seen some phenomenal TVs being announced at the event. Here are the best TVs we have witnessed at CES 2024 so far.

LG OLED Signature T

LG has been captivating eyes with its new 77-inch transparent OLED TV called the LG OLED Signature T. While the display on demo is reportedly still not the final version of the product, it is still pretty good for a transparent TV. For the uninitiated, transparent TVs themselves aren’t new, but just like under-display cameras, it is the quality of transparent TVs that still requires some improvement.

The LG OLED Signature T comprises a transparent panel with a contrast film behind it. With the remote, users will be able to turn the TV on and the seemingly transparent glass turns into a full-blown 77-inch TV. The colours and contrast of this display aren’t still on par with LG’s more conventional OLED TVs, but hey, it is a significant step in the right direction!

TCL QM8 115-inch TV

TCL largely focused on TVs this year at CES 2024, particularly on big TVs. The star of the show for the brand is the TCL QM8, the company’s first 115-inch QLED display. Similar to other previous TVs in the brand’s QM8 series (which usually feature 65-inch to 98-inch models), the new 115QM89 comes with mini-LED backlight for high contrast ratios and Quantum Dots for better colour filtering.

This time, the brand has also thrown in a 6.2.2 channel speaker system and 20,000 dimming zones. You may not realise this, but more dimming zones in a mini-LED display this large is actually crucial, since if large panels have the same number of individual dimming zones as regular TVs, it beats the whole point of more granular control over contrast. The brand has also announced other new TVs, including the new S5 4K TVs with HDR PRO+ and Q and Q-series soundbars.

Samsung MicroLED transparent TV

LG is not the only brand at CES 2024 flaunting a new transparent TV. Samsung, has announced a few of their own. The new Samsung TVs are highlighted by the new MicroLED transparent TV, which stands a centimetre thick, and when actually showing imagery, almost looks like a hologram in the air. With the high pixel-density of a MicroLED panel, the images of the TV are also sharper than the usual visual output you see on transparent TVs.

Samsung also launched a few more TVs at the event including a transparent OLED TV similar to LG’s new offering, a new 8K QLED TV, and more. You can check out our in-depth coverage of the new Samsung TVs at CES 2024 for more details.
